This 18th-century house, fronted by a small garden, is in the Louis XIV style. The foundations of the remains of a keep were uncovered in 1880 during the renovation of the farm and the current tower. In 1880, this beautiful house was extended at the rear with an extension and a tower.

The old castle of Sart This beautiful residence dates back to the second half of the 18th century. Preceded by a garden, the main facade, made of bricks and limestone and chained at the corners, is in the Louis XIV style. It includes a ground floor topped by an upper floor. There are seven bays, the middle one being wider than the others, limited by chains without a harp and surmounted by a small pediment with a bull's eye. The windows are framed by simple cut stone jambs with a curved lintel. The central bay stands out in this ensemble. The door in the center opens between two transom pilasters topped with two spandrels and a molded key supporting a fairly large cornice. This castle formerly belonged to Raes Blanche, Lord of the Petit Sart castle. It is for this reason that the Detroz farm is still called “Cinse Blanche”. The tower was rebuilt with stones from the old tower.

Farnières Castle was built into the local arkose rock by the nobleman Fernand Orban de Xivry in the 1920s. The castle is today occupied by the CRH Domaine de Farnières, a center which offers comfortable accommodation, a kitchen simple and friendly and a range of engaging activities for all ages. You can also admire the ancient chapel of Farnières which, according to legend, was built after a statue of the Virgin Mary was found at the foot of a tree. The castle and its chapel are not open to the public, but they can serve as a starting point for magnificent trails in the forests.

The Château de Farnières is magnificent. The interior is accessible to the public on request at reception. Come and refresh yourself with a glass of Farnières (beer) or apple juice at the bar.

In the leafy months it is difficult to find a distant view of Reinhardstein Castle in the dense canopy of leaves.
