The Dieksee is a lake in Holstein Switzerland. It covers 386 hectares, has a maximum length of approximately 3.4 km and a maximum width of 1.6 km. The lake is up to 38 m deep and lies approximately 22 m above sea level. The Schwentine River flows through it from east to west.

The Canada goose is a species of bird in the anatidae family and is considered the most common goose in the world. Its native range is North America. It is a characteristic lowland bird there, breeding on inland lakes in prairie and agricultural areas.

The Dieksee promenade takes you from the Malente Wildlife Park to the Diekseeholm forest. The Dieksee promenade runs along the western shore of the 368-hectare Dieksee lake. Here you will find many of Malente's hotels, guesthouses, and health clinics. Redesigned in 2007, the promenade consists partly of paved stone slabs and partly of hard-packed sand. During the construction work, a floating pontoon for events was installed near the pier for the 5-Lakes Cruise and Kellersee Cruise. An additional wooden walkway was also added to the promenade. Terraced platforms have been integrated along the embankment, offering a particularly beautiful view of the Dieksee.

The famous scenes in the Immenhof films were shot on this section of the Dieksee shore in the 1950s.

Ponds located in the Diekseeholm forest that were previously used for fish farming. This natural attraction in Malente was created in 1869 for the breeding of noble fish. The ponds are fed by fresh spring water from the "Diekseeholm" forest area. They are connected to each other by small streams and channels. The ponds got their name because the surrounding trees are reflected particularly beautifully in the calm, smooth water. In the immediate vicinity of the mirror ponds is one of Malente's Kneipp pools: a natural water treading area and an arm Kneipp pool.

There are benches along the circular route that invite you to rest. Highlights include the views of the lake, Eutin Castle and the castle garden (it is also worth taking a detour to the historic and lovingly landscaped kitchen garden), the historic bathing establishment and the mini golf course. The old town with the market square, the tourist information office and other sights are just a few minutes' walk from the castle.
