Tiefurt Castle Park The Tiefurt Castle Park extends over an area of 21 hectares on both sides of the Ilm. Gently sloping meadows with beautiful groups of trees extend to the river bank. Beyond this, a steep slope covered with dense trees rises. Numerous monuments and park architecture such as the tea pavilion invite you to explore. The Ilmtal cycle path runs directly along the river. Tiefurt Castle Duchess Anna Amalia's summer residence The current design reflects the taste of the time around 1800. Originally it was the estate tenant's house, until Duchess Anna Amalia took over the modest castle building after Ettersburg Castle as a summer residence and turned it into a place for literary and social meetings. The Duchess made a conscious decision not to change the exterior architecture, as she particularly liked the rural ambience. Anna Amalia also gathered scholars and friends around her in Tiefurt. The heyday of Tiefurt's sociability, which was reflected in Tiefurt's journal, is associated with the first four years of her summer stays. Performances by the Weimar amateur theater were among the special events. Tour Several works of art commemorate Anna Amalia's trip to Italy from 1788 to 1790, including a watercolor by Johann Georg Schütz showing the Duchess and her traveling party surrounded by Roman artists in the garden of the Villa d'Este. Sculptures and busts by the court sculptor Gottlieb Martin Klauer in the stairwell as well as porcelain from China, Meissen, Copenhagen, Fürstenberg and Vienna are among the artistic highlights of the furnishings. From the courtyard, it is possible to look into the cold kitchen with a variety of utensils. The historical display dishes made of porcelain, wax and papier-mâché on display there come from the ducal property and imitate the dishes in a deceptively realistic way. 8월 28, 2024, Wall of Stone Busts, Kromsdorf Castle Park
"When Mortaigne redesigned the palace gardens in 1666, he set 64 niches for sandstone busts in the garden wall. It is not clear how many busts Mortaigne had made and how many his successor, Duke Wilhelm Ernst, had made. It is assumed that the majority of the busts are attributable to Wilhelm Ernst, as he was better off financially and was also a collector of such pieces. From 1709 onwards he commissioned the sculptor Hans Caspar Ritze to make more busts. When the French troops marched through Kromsdorf in 1806, they knocked off the noses of all but around 11 busts. The sculptor Dupont began restoring them in 1833 on the orders of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich. The rulers and military leaders are by far the most numerous, with 45 busts. There are only three poets and thinkers, however. It is also striking that only one woman is mentioned by name: Anne Stuart. The other female busts have impersonal names, such as "Woman from the island of Chios" From Wikipedia Some noses are still missing...

Very beautiful complex that is located directly on the motorway but is shielded by the forest and the large garden. The orangery is beautifully designed and has wonderfully fragrant flowers, while the complex itself is perfect for a stroll. Belvedere Palace above the city of Weimar was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998, along with other buildings of "Classical Weimar". The path below the palace leads you directly to the city park and then to the beautiful old town.

Belvedere Palace, the baroque summer residence of the von Sachsen-Weimar and Eisenach family, is located on a hill south of Weimar in the middle of a spacious park with an orangery, pleasure garden and maze. It has been a museum for 18th-century arts and crafts since 1923, in which exquisite porcelain from the Weimar ducal family can be seen.

The ruins of the Templar House built in 1786 are located in the Park on the Ilm on the western bank of the river, between the Roman House, the Park Caves and the Residential Palace. The neo-Gothic temple was created from a former greenhouse and from then on served the Weimar court as a meeting place for events, exhibitions and concerts. A year after its construction, the court sculptor Martin Gottlieb Klauer created four life-size statues of the Templars out of wood. These were placed on the corner battlements of the temple and later gave the building its name. In 1818 the statues were replaced by sandstone figures and the wooden Templar statues found their new place in the corners of the salon. In 1816, based on Goethe's idea, a tower was built on the east side of the temple. In the same style as the windows, the tower received a pointed arched entrance gate. Now the magnificent house was complete and was used as a concert hall. Many musicians, including Franz Liszt, gave their skills to the ears of the Weimar court. Liszt sometimes played all night long in this building, since his house was only a few meters from the Templar House. For several years, the Tempelherrenhaus served as the concert hall and studio of the Bauhaus until it was destroyed in March 1945 by a bomb attack during the Second World War. Only the tower of the temple, built in 1816, remained and was restored in 1998. Some of the sandstone figures can still be seen today on remains of the temple house. The manor house is often confused with the artificial ruin. As part of the "New Nature" theme year and as one of the six external locations of the BUGA 2021, the Tempelherrenhaus in the Park an der Ilm is presenting itself with a newly constructed outbuilding: the Green Laboratory.
