We didn't even see the highlight at first because we were too close. It wasn't until we were a bit further away that we noticed Erna. The name fits. 👍😁

The Hopfgarten dam near Weimar serves to protect against flooding and to increase the low water levels of the Gramme, a tributary of the Unstrut. The barrier structure is a 368 m long and 15 m high earth dam. It is also a swimming lake, there are beautiful secluded spots around the reservoir.

Wolfgang Schott, father of "ERNA", Seßlach, Bavaria (Died July 2019) "Nature sets the direction" In the midst of anticipation and preparations for the 2019 Sculpture Symposium, the news of the artist's illness and death hit us like a blow. A Douglas fir over 100 years old from the forest behind the reservoir was felled to realize his sculptor's dream. A man like a tree, with deep roots, a strong stance, and a lasting impression.
