The Köhlersteig connects the town of “Greiz” with the town of “Reichenbach”. This natural hiking trail is surrounded by rock towers - the Köhlerspitzen. The Köhlersteig lies between the confluence of the Göltzsch and the Weiße Elster in Greiz and the Göltzschtal Bridge. 🤩👍

The “Dragon's Tail” adventure bridge on the grounds of the 2007 Federal Garden Show is, at 225 meters, one of the longest and most innovative wooden bridges in Germany. The building contains technical innovations, particularly in the sophisticated support solution and the wooden tension band of the superstructure. The wooden bridge prevailed in the competition from the client, BUGA Gera and Ronneburg 2007 GmbH, against a steel/concrete solution. As part of a long-distance cycle path, the bridge is particularly impressive because of its shape. With its waves it follows the expectation of natural paths. At the highest viewing points, the bridge is widened and provides a clear view over the birch groves in the valley floor of the recultivated landscape of former mining dumps.

The Köhlersteig is an approx. 9 km long climb from the Göltzsch Viaduct to Greiz. If you want to take the charcoal tips with you, you have to be a bit careful.
