After passing the last hamlet of Ceratello, which owes its name to its Cerri woods (a type of Oak), you take a splendid and panoramic traverse that leads to the Bossico plateau. You soon leave the asphalt to run on a perfect dirt road where in the steepest parts, more subject to erosion, it becomes finely paved. When you come across the first houses and the panorama opens up it is the sign that you have arrived at the vast Bossico plateau.

The Sanctuary takes its name from "tower" because in ancient times it was a Lombard tower, twin of the other Lombard tower that was located at the current Cala di San Giovanni. Both towers were under the dominion of the Lombard Prince Alano, who from his fortress of Breno (currently a ruined castle) governed the entire Valcamonica and Alto Sebino. Following Charlemagne's conquest of the Lombard Kingdom, with an Imperial Decree the two Lombard towers of Sovere and Cala di Lovere were changed from tower to sanctuary, dedicated respectively to the Madonna della Torre and to San Giovanni. The Val Seriana cycle path is a long 59 km snake that starts from the center of Bergamo and ends in Valbondione, in the upper Seriana valley. A slow-moving cycle path that runs parallel to the Serio river and passes through most of the villages nestled in the valley. Dozens of km pedaling through nature, art and mountains, a great opportunity for those who love to spend a relaxing moment in company, for those who want to do sports or for those who love cycle tourism. The route is well marked with indicative and informative signs along the entire route, you have to be a little careful not to lose your way in the very short sections on pavement and road. Most of the route runs alongside the Serio river that crosses it from time to time with characteristic pedestrian bridges and at times follows the disused Valseriana railway that served between Bergamo and Clusone at the turn of the 20th century.
