The first castle on the Rusteberg was first mentioned in a document in 1123, but was already destroyed again in 1160. The mountain is located in the western part of the Eichsfeld district near the state border with Hesse. The Junkerkuppe is the highest point on the ridge path between the 🏰Hanstein Castle and the Teufelskanzel 😈.
