Since the first palace and park complexes were built at the beginning of the 18th century, Ettersburg was a popular hunting and summer residence for the ducal family of Saxony-Weimar and Eisenach. Anna Amalia gathered a literary and artistic circle around her here. The extensive landscape park with its gardens and the "Pückler-Schlag" is a gem of garden art.

Here, photos of two beautiful Unstrut bridges are shown in a highlight. The title picture belongs to the second in the city park at the church. The other, longer bridge is in the city park at the end of the canoeists' whitewater canal. The comments sometimes refer to one bridge, sometimes to the other. The cycle path goes past the longer bridge, sharp right turn, the cycle path goes over the small bridge by the church. Both beautiful!

The track section just rolls great in both directions.

Have the Sömmerdaer made an effort

Return route terrible! A good third of the route goes along a bike path right next to a busy four-lane road. That's not fun. The route from Weimar to Erfurt, on the other hand, is highly recommended.
