Well-preserved castle ruins. Reachable quite quickly from the local car park.

A rather unknown gem in Thuringia. Beichlingen Castle. The support association takes care of its preservation. In GDR times it was also a boarding school for future teachers/kindergarteners. Then also a technical school for veterinary medicine.

All that remains of the former castle is the mighty residential tower (Hohes Haus) from the 15th century, the new castle, the castle chapel and large parts of the ring wall. The former outer bailey was demolished in 1972 and replaced by functional buildings. The "Hohe Turm", a mighty residential tower with a floor area of 32 x 18 meters, the restored castle chapel.

Very nice castle ruins, although I would prefer them to be overgrown

Today there are only ruins of the Arnsburg. The foundation walls of the keep, palace and ring walls are still recognizable. In addition, 3 pointed arcades of a farm building have been preserved. A cellar staircase was reconstructed, which leads to a 6 x 13 m barrel-vaulted cellar.

Simply a magnificent castle complex.

Not far from the upper church, a fortress-like, originally Franconian building, the Hausmannsturm, catches the eye. He was in a document Otto III. Mentioned on November 30, 998 as part of the city fortifications. Over the centuries, the Franconian houses have had a wide variety of names for the striking building.
