The abandoned gate of Beichlingen Castle is a fascinating relic that exudes a touch of history and mysticism. It is part of the impressive castle complex, which lies in the middle of an idyllic landscape.

In 1864/65, the lords of Werthern-Bachra had a new palace built on the walls of a former building as the seat of their branch line.

There is not much to see of the Monraburg.

The castle was built in 1864/65 by the von Werthern family and was their property until the end of World War II. The castle and manor were expropriated without compensation, and the von Werther family was expelled. It has been privately owned again since 2000 and is used as a residential and commercial building. From 1964 to 1991 the Polytechnic High School was located here. So I went to school in a castle. In the post-war period, the castle was u. a. used as a quarantine station and party school.

Wall system almost nothing to see anymore

The ruin of the castle is located at 377 m above sea level. NN north above the village of Großmonra in the neighborhood of Künzelsberg, the highest elevation of the Heights Schmücke. Unfortunately, only single ruins and ramparts can be seen.

The castle Hardisleben was the predecessor of today still standing hunting lodge in the community. The hunting lodge was built in 1738 from the pleasure palace of 1700.
