The "Greune Stee" (German: "Green Spot") is a 60-80 hectare nature reserve on Borkum, known primarily in the southwest as a primeval forest-like wetland biotope with hiking and cycling trails. It offers a unique mix of forest, dunes, and heathland and is an important breeding ground for various bird species and a habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna.

Wonderful cycling and hiking trails make exploring a pleasure.

Unfortunately only intended for riders, as a few centimeters of hay are lying on top, making it very difficult to walk.

WINGS OVER BORKUM Kiekhütte Every year in October, when the first autumn winds sweep over Borkum, the spectacle of migratory birds begins. Oystercatchers, curlews, and shelducks dance over the salt marshes, while the melodies of songbirds waft through the sea buckthorn bushes. Here, in this living picture of nature, every wing beat whispers stories of distant lands and native shores.

After the renovation, it's much more modern. Unfortunately, there's currently no decent shelter for waiting cyclists/travellers, so you're stuck in the wet in bad weather 🌧☔️🙄

The food was very tasty. Highly recommended!
