미셀호너 하이데는 쥐트하이드의 가장 전형적인 황야 풍경 중 하나입니다. 이 지역의 특징은 광활한 황야, 주니퍼 관목, 그리고 풍경을 형성하는 자작나무입니다. 8월부터 9월까지 황야 개화기 동안에는 특히 인상적인데, 이때 황야는 보라색 바다로 변합니다. 빌제데 근처의 더 잘 알려진 황야 지역과 비교했을 때, 미셀호너 하이데는 더 조용하고 덜 방문되는 곳으로 여겨집니다. 독일의 풍경 화가 아놀드 리옹그륀도 이 풍경에서 영감을 받아 수많은 황야 그림에 담아냈으며, 이로 인해 이 지역은 전국적으로 알려지게 되었습니다.

Here two large heath areas flow into one another: the Misselhorner Heide and the Tiefental, which is often called the “heath area on the Eicksberg”. Heathlands are old cultural landscapes, created by agriculture in earlier centuries. Today they are protected thanks to their very own flora and fauna. The Misselhorner Heath with the Tiefental is one of the most beautiful heath areas in the Südheide Nature Park. Gentle hills and extensive heathland, interspersed with gnarled junipers, characterize the landscape. The heath area begins 1.5 km east of Hermannsburg. It is part of the "middle Lüßplateau", a nature reserve in the Südheide Nature Park.

It's unusual to have such a large circular hole, it would be really interesting to know how it came about.
