How the lake has changed! The last time I was here, the East German border still ran along the eastern side of the lake. And "over there," the Vopos (commanders of the East German state) watched with binoculars to make sure the fisherman didn't venture too far out in his boat. Today, you can hardly reach the shore anywhere because of all the boat docks.

There are two piers here, one for the Ratzeburger and one for the Wakenitz shipping. You can go by boat from Ratzeburg to Lübeck with a change.

Particularly beautiful and varied path. The sometimes steep sections are easily manageable with e-bikes. The east bank is not quite as nice.

Well maintained. The snack bar can be used as an alternative to the fried potato hut on the main street.

Even today, July 11, 2022, very few people were out and the rest stops and restaurants were hardly visited, despite the great weather. However, I only recommend the tour to those who have already gained experience on forest paths and single trails and please do not necessarily do the tour with a city bike or light trekking bike!

Up and down on an easily navigable path, great.

A really beautiful lake, but unfortunately a few good bathing areas are missing.
