HISTORICAL DEFENSIVE SYSTEM The 2.2 km long city wall illustrates the defensive strength and importance of the former Free Imperial City. Mühlhausen thus has an almost completely preserved defensive system. At the same time, it is also one of the oldest non-Roman city walls in the German-speaking world, as some of its components date back to the early 13th century. This inner fortification surrounds an area of 49 hectares, which is the second largest area monument in Thuringia after Erfurt's old town. Of the four city gates, the inner Frauentor from 1655 has survived to this day. The other entrances (the Erfurt and Felchta gates as well as the Görmartor) were demolished in the 19th century to make way for wider road access to the city center. The inner wall can currently be explored over a length of 370 meters. Some of the numerous defensive towers and rondelles were later converted into pavilions.

Beautiful property with a small market in the yard. However, to get there, a bridge toll of 2 euros per person has to be paid. You would get the bridge duty charged when you eat it, but that took too long for us

The Melenthin moated castle on Usedom is a wonderful destination for a bike trip. The castle is an imposing building from the 18th century and is located in the middle of a park with beautiful avenues and lakes. The castle itself is impressive and offers an interesting history to explore. It was built in the Baroque style and has undergone many reconstructions and renovations over the years. Today you can visit the castle and explore the magnificent rooms and gardens. During the bike trip to the Melenthin moated castle you can enjoy the beautiful landscape and experience the peace and seclusion of the castle park. Here you can take a break and unwind before cycling back to the hustle and bustle of everyday life and eat really delicious cake - great for a real break.

This small castle is definitely worth a visit, I recommend taking the time to visit the castle from the inside as well.
