A beautiful path, very pleasant to walk, and the view is magnificent. Yes, the Harz Mountains are unfortunately very dry and damaged. I keep reminding myself that where I can now admire towns and the Brocken from a distance, there used to be only trees.

On the Hellberg there is (or was) an approximately 300-year-old oak tree known as the “Tilly oak tree”. According to local tradition, the tree is intended to commemorate the military leader of the Catholic League, Count Tilly.

Very nice to ride with MTB. Especially in midsummer, very cool and sheltered here. Very suitable for staying longer, because there are enough seats on site.
