Without an entrance fee, you can peacefully climb the wide tower stairs to the viewing platform. Inside the tower, you'll find various exhibits and information. There are several levels leading to the very top. A massive wall, large wooden stairs, and a very wide viewing platform offer excellent views in almost every direction. It's a rewarding experience after cycling up the steep hill.

Normally, the ruins are closed to the public. However, there is a way. At the castle hotel, you can get the key for the gate and visit the ruins. The observation tower was particularly important to me because I visit similar ones by bicycle in the TV series "The Tower Hunt." The tower looks massive. Spiral stone stairs lead up to a small room where you can also reach the viewing platform. First, though, you have to climb the vertical metal ladder. It's worth it because the view is beautiful. You can see the ruins and the surrounding area very well.

Katlenburg is worth a visit

From Plesse Castle you have a really beautiful view, a visit here is always worthwhile. There are lots of great photo opportunities.

A beautiful castle ruin with great photo opportunities...we were lucky and the gates were open. There is also a registry office there, a great place to get married.
