The castle was built by the Counts of Katlenburg (1002-1106). There are no visible residues. (Source: information board on the castle hill).
Nevertheless, the ride is worth the trip to the mountain, especially on Sundays. Then the "book-keeper" Weskott opens the gates to his book castle. According to the motto "pass on books instead of throwing away" a huge collection has formed. More at:
