The lock, which has existed since 1865, was renovated in 1965 with concrete chamber walls and automated in 2004. The lock is activated using the request levers at the waiting points in the respective outer harbor. During operation in the summer months, up to 10,000 pleasure boats are on the move here. It is one of three locks that must be overcome on the way from Berlin to Scharmützelsee.

We rode a section on profiled racing bikes and I enjoyed it. By changing the drivable surface several times (fast, but also relaxing, or also highly concentrated to curious sections), everything was there for me that I expect from such a tour.

When you arrive at the pond, you don't see its size at all. When you walk around it you realize how big it really is. Just fantastic. We were delighted by the many swans and other waterfowl. You must have seen that.
