Built and expanded between 1843 and the 1920s, the estate grew steadily and was used to breed cows, horses, pigs and sheep. The entire estate complex, consisting of the manor house, the distillery and the stables, is still partly surrounded by the old estate wall. The distillery was once used to produce alcohol from potatoes and beets.

In the 12th century, Freienwalde Castle stood on the small spur above the town. In the 19th century, an artificial ruin was built on the castle, which no longer exists, and today serves as a lookout point. All that remains of the castle are the remains of the moat.

In the 12th century, the "Freienwalde Castle" stood on a small spur above the town. In the 19th century, an artificial ruin was built on the now-defunct castle, which today serves as a lookout point. Only the remains of the moat remain. This ruin (the former Freienwalde Castle) is connected to the Bismarck Tower (standing on the remains of the former Malchow Castle) northwest of here by old tunnels. The castles and later lookout towers/points served as part of a defensive system along the edge of the Oderbruch and protected against enemies from the east. Today, there is a magnificent view of the town.

During the archaeological excavations on the castle grounds, finds were recovered that do not contradict a dating to the 13th or 14th century. The structure was made of limestone and half-timbered.

In the 13th century, the Ascanians built a castle here, the remains of which can still be seen today. There has been an impressive observation tower on the Schlossberg in Biesenthal since 1907: the Kaiser Friedrich Tower. It offers visitors a fantastic panoramic view.

The victims of the Franco-Prussian War are commemorated in the middle of the town of Biesenthal. Anyone coming from the direction of Bernau will rather enjoy the descent and the thrill of speed than thinking about history. The memorial is special because it is not dedicated to the victims of either world war.

Much of the ruin can no longer be seen, but there is an information sign about it. The thick trunk of the old linden tree is quite impressive.
