It's this silent expanse that suddenly envelops you when you emerge from Kuhlhausen onto the asphalt strips that stretch straight across the flat land. Grain to the left, corn to the right – in between: just you, your bike, and the wind. A path seemingly out of time, lined with apple trees, overflown by crows, and carried by the silence that only summer knows. You don't have to arrive here. Here you can simply ride. Straight ahead, accompanied by the rustling of the grass, the creaking of a tree stand that stands in the landscape like a warning observer. The fields breathe deeply, the light changes with the clouds, and sometimes, very rarely, someone drives towards you – a curt greeting, a knowing smile, and then continues on. It's the inconspicuous paths that tell the story of a landscape. And sometimes, its heartbeat too. This one is one of them.

Anyone approaching Lake Hohennauen on two wheels will be rewarded halfway – with a bridge that is more than just a crossing. The view from here is far-reaching: Lake Ferchesar shimmers to the left, Lake Hohennauen stretches out to the right, and in the middle, Lake Semliner stretches long and blue through the landscape. The bridge itself is comfortable: structurally separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians – that's almost a luxury in Brandenburg. Below, water lilies lap against old pilings, above, boats glide by like mobile viewing platforms. If you pause here for a moment, you'll see what defines the region: expanse, water, wind – and a soothing silence that doesn't have to be loud to make an impression.

On the Gollenberg, a large sculpture, the wind harp on the top of the mountain, and a memorial stone at the crash site commemorate the aviation pioneer. At the foot of the mountain, you can visit the Lady Agnes, an Ilyushin Il-62 long-range aircraft named after Lilienthal's wife. It serves as an exhibition space and registry office and has become a magnet for visitors since its spectacular landing on the runway of the Stölln gliding airfield in 1989.

Half-timbered church in Gartz near Havelberg with its octagonal floor plan was built in 1688 and today appears to be a completely crooked structure. Inside there is a baroque altar and a Lütkemüller organ from 1871.

Here on the Gollenberg in Stölln, the world's first flight attempts were made. Flight models, documents and photos describe the life and work of the flight pioneer Otto Lilienthal in the Lilienthal-Centrum Stölln. A multifunctional building is available for this purpose in the form of the “old distillery”. The impressive permanent exhibition is divided into four thematic complexes: Aviarium (large aviary), workshop, 2wei brothers and the encyclopedia of aviation. A special sensation is the "Lady Agnes" - an IL 62 retired by Interflug, which can be viewed at Gollenberg.

For an entrance fee of 6 euros, the exhibition aircraft can also be viewed from the inside. There is also a small film about the aviation pioneer Lilienthal and the impressive landing of the Ilyushin 62
