Kunrau Castle was built from 1859 to 1861 for Theodor Hermann Rimpau, the inventor of the moorland culture. The architect was a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and the architectural style was based on the Berlin villas in the Tiergarten.
This castle was built in 1140, in whose protection Beetzendorf was created. Owned by the Schulenburgs since 1345, it was inhabited until 1760. The adjoining open-air stage was built after 1945.

This place is just fantastic. There's something mysterious in the air! The ruins are definitely worth seeing and a real highlight for photographers. The huge gnarled trees all around make the whole thing look even more impressive.
