MUSEUM BURG BROME - THE BUILDING

Castle Brome is a moated castle, which was probably founded by Henry the Lion before 1195. The castle crew was to supervise the nearby border to the Mark Brandenburg. The most prominent guest was Emperor Charles IV, who personally took possession of the castle in 1376. The still existing main building dates from the Renaissance. Until the 20th century, it served as the seat of a Burgvogt, which was responsible for the administration of the surrounding villages. From 2009 to 2014, the acutely collapse-prone building was extensively renovated and re-founded. It discovered the remains of the castle's own brewery from the 16th century. They have been preserved and can now be seen in the entrance area.
