Plön's town bay, located in the northern part of Lake Plön, features lakeside restaurants, a boat landing, and a marina. Plön's town bay has much to offer, most notably the magnificent view of Plön Castle. Along the bay, you'll find numerous restaurants, a beautiful, long lakeside promenade perfect for strolling, and the Marktbrücke landing stage for the Grand Plön Lake Tour. On Eutiner Straße, between the residential area and the sailing club, lies a fishing area with a jetty, an entry point for divers, and a launch and landing area for stand-up paddleboards (SUPs).

The salt warehouses are located on the Upper Trave, directly next to the Holsten Gate. They were built between 1579 and 1745. They are a group of warehouses in the Brick Renaissance style. The warehouses are located on Lübeck's Upper Trave, directly next to the Holsten Gate. Until 1839, the warehouse closest to the Holsten Gate was owned by the "Oldesloe Saltworks." This is indicated by a relief in the clinker brick of the facade. Originally, the warehouse buildings were used to store salt brought from Lüneburg via the Old Salt Road and later via the Stecknitz Canal, as well as salt extracted from the Oldesloe Saltworks and brought by barges on the Trave. This salt was exported from Lübeck throughout Scandinavia as the basis of its wealth at the time. The salt was primarily used to preserve fish caught in Norway and Scania, thus enabling the herring trade with the inland regions as a Lenten food. The location on Lübeck's oldest bridge, the so-called Holstentor Bridge, marked the boundary between the seaport and the inland port in the Middle Ages, with its connection to the Elbe River via the Stecknitz Canal. A wonderful descent towards Zarpen. It starts off rather gently and then becomes increasingly steeper. Certainly not easy, at least by northern German standards.
