Always a bit windy

It lies there as if it had been forgotten – and that's precisely why it so naturally belongs here. A simple wooden bridge, barely five paces long, framed in an old-fashioned way by a weather-beaten railing that bears the years like scars that can no longer be hidden. The path in front of it: narrow, softly trodden, overgrown with grass. A path not many seek – but those who find it stop. Not because it's spectacular, but because it's quiet. One of those rare places where you pause for a moment, without knowing why. To the left, a ditch, little more than a trickle, winding through the reeds as if fleeing civilization. To the right: nothing but green, dense, vibrant, confusing. In summer, the path almost blends into the landscape – you don't walk through it, you immerse yourself in it. In winter, it becomes clearer again, as if nature wanted to briefly reflect. You can hear the rustling of the grass, a birdcall from the thicket, perhaps the distant hum of the highway—but everything is muted, as if even the noise here were polite. This bridge doesn't just connect two banks. It connects states. Inside and outside. Berlin and Brandenburg. Travel and lingering.

You first have to navigate the green, which is sufficient in itself. The path to the willow pond isn't a walk, but a small test. The bushes whisper, the ground is springy, somewhere a duck croaks. The view opens onto the shallow, shimmering body of water, lying there as if it had never done anything but reflect the sky. Reeds stand at attention in the fringe, a dragonfly flickers through the air, herons pose like ancient Japanese birds in gray ink. And in between – this vast, deep nothingness. No boat, no jetty, no purpose. Just landscape. The willow pond isn't a star among lakes, not a showpiece with a panoramic edge or a restaurant. It's the type that sits in the back row but sees everything. A migratory bird resting place. A place where stories rest. Those who stand here become quiet – not because it's required, but because it feels right. And while the city continues to blare a few hundred meters away, something greater than everyday life opens up here for a brief moment: a quiet, green thought.

The loop takes you back through Buch Forest, finishing where you started at S Buch. Mostly flat, shaded, and ideal for a relaxed day out on two wheels!
