Rare animal species such as the endangered Dragonfly species such as the "shining damselfly" or the "common emerald dragonfly" have found a new home in the silting zones. The unique biotope has been protected since the 1990s. As a result, in addition to swimming, fishing was also banned in the lake and a replacement fishing water was set up between the Mosenberg and the small town of Bettenfeld.
