Heid Castle is actually not a classic castle. It was originally an estate that has existed since the 14th century. Only in the 19th century was the building rebuilt accordingly.

Sommerau Castle was built on a 45 m long rock spur around which the Ruwer rivers flow on three sides. The remains of the former palace at a height of up to 10 m have been preserved in the west, while the four-storey four-story keep is still 16 m high in the east.
