Strictly speaking, the “Old Castle” in Rodalben is not a real castle. Rather, the rock massif made of red sandstone is a prehistoric refuge, which was naturally protected by rocks and a rampart.

I couldn't see much of the castle

The "Old Castle" is a Celtic refugee castle on the rock path near Rodalben.

An old Roman spring sanctuary, which still existed as found in the 2nd millennium BC until 390. It is probably about gods and sacrifices.

Strictly speaking, the "Old Castle" in Rodalben is not a real castle. Rather, the red sandstone rock massif is a prehistoric refugee castle, which was naturally protected by rocks and a rampart. The trench wall system consists of three consecutive section walls and two trenches, which hikers can still get an idea of today. The facility is located directly on the Rodalber Felsenwanderweg and from the plateau of the old castle there is a beautiful view over Rodalben.
