Illuminated tunnel of the former Glantalbahn

Cool feeling when you drive through!

The building was previously used to overwinter cold-sensitive citrus fruits. Hence the name Orangery. In 2013, the historical remains of the orangery were covered with a 30 meter long Corten steel wall, which is intended to preserve the ruins and protect them from further deterioration.

At Nanzdietschweiler there is a massive metal bridge over the river Glan with the clearly visible sign "Fischerhütte". If you follow the signs it goes steeply downhill from the bike path (slide 20 meters!) Through the natural monument Elendsklamm and the beginning of the Sickinger Höhe with the pigeon head on the German premium hiking trail. Impressive gorge with a “primeval forest”, which is a unique habitat for rare animal and plant species. The path along the gorge is well developed and secured with railings, bridges and steps. When inspecting in late autumn and winter, make sure that you have weather-appropriate equipment. In midsummer the gorge offers a welcome cool hiking trail.

The orangery is always worth a visit.
