This is one of the more than 100 existing "Saar-Hunsrück dream loops" that make the large area south of the Moselle very attractive as a hiking destination. In the brochure it is described with the words "With magnificent views, the hiking trail leads from the Hunsrück plateau ... into the deep Ehrbach valley. In complete isolation, the path runs along a narrow path along the stream. There are steep ascents and descents with ... surprising views." The dream loop is 8.5 kilometers long, 390 meters in altitude and is described as taking 3 to 4 hours to walk.

Nice old town, but the Rhine towns all seem pretty dusty. The great shine seems to have passed, a noticeably few houses have been renovated.

Oberwesel is also very beautiful without a bike. From the train station, day ticket € 2.00 parking fee, everything is well signposted. I'm over the city wall, you're up to Cherry St, Martin. Through the city garden, with its own wall and a view of the old monastery. Then to the castle and back over the Elfenley. From there you have a beautiful view of Oberwesel. With many photo stops, it took me less than 5 hours for the whole hike. But far from seeing everything. Unfortunately it is very foggy at the moment. In Oberwesel for the bike path directly past the busy street. Here, however, you are very close to the place, there is always an opportunity for a rest.

A varied hike along the Ehrbach through a gorge. Return after a steep and interesting ascent along great viewpoints. Recommendable. Surefootedness required.

The Ehrbachklamm was opened up in 1921 by the pharmacist Georg Francke from Boppard (1860 to 1926). In 1991, a commemorative plaque was placed in the Ehrbachklamm to mark the 70th anniversary of its existence.

Oberwesel is always worth a visit, especially a walk over the old city wall.
