The historic Wittstock/Dosse station has a rich history and was opened in 1885 with the construction of the Prignitz Railway Company line. This line initially connected Perleberg, Pritzwalk, and Wittstock before being later extended to the Mecklenburg state border near Buschhof and further to Neustrelitz. After 1990, the station's use changed significantly. In 1998, passenger service between Wittstock and Mirow was discontinued, and in 2004, this line was finally closed.
