The castle was built in 1534 by the patrician Sebastian Cammerer. In 1815 Johann Kielkalt from Nuremberg bought it and set it up as a restaurant. It is right at the entrance to the town and cannot be missed. https://hallerschloesschen.de/

Many of the Heroldsberg inns used to brew their own beer. In winter, blocks of ice were cut from the castle and Pretschers ponds and transported to the cellars, so that the beer could be stored there until midsummer. Atzelsberg Castle boasts beautifully maintained grounds, and there's an inn with a lovely beer garden next door. It's located directly on the hiking trail and has a parking lot, making it a great starting point for hikes.

The Felsenkeller in Heroldsberg is located in a depression below the Green Castle. The cellars were formerly used as storage cellars, but are no longer accessible.
