The town of Enns is considered Austria's oldest town and boasts a rich history dating back to Roman times. The town square, with its 60-meter-high town tower from the 16th century, is the visible centerpiece, surrounded by historic town houses, the Baroque Marienbrunnen fountain, and numerous cafés with cozy outdoor seating. Enns combines medieval flair with modern quality of life and is today an attractive place for culture, events, and enjoyable breaks – especially for cyclists traveling along the Enns Cycle Path or the Danube Cycle Path. Benches, bike parking, and regional restaurants invite you to linger.

Enns is the successor town of Lauriacum, which was elevated to city status in 212.

The beautiful castle on the quiet side street now houses a hunting museum

The town of Enns was one of the first towns in Austria to have a town hall. Over time, it was located in three different locations. Today's town hall is a building from the 17th century with a mighty round bay window. The facade facing Mauthausnerstrasse has eight axes and is just as magnificently designed as the five-axis front on the town square.

The almost 900-year-old castle above the Trattnachtal changed hands countless times. Tenants are currently being sought for the castle.
