The Stations of the Cross have been redesigned. Unfortunately, the church was closed. I would definitely visit the signposted viewpoint. Parking is available just below at the Messnerhaus restaurant, which is also recommended.

The basalt cone is 731 meters high and is an extinct volcanic vent. Today forested and visible from afar, the cone lies on the old trade route Eger - Nuremberg. On its summit stands the listed pilgrimage church "To the Holy Trinity". An artistically designed Stations of the Cross are the trademark of the Armesberg.

According to legend, the giants who lived here placed their cats' troughs here. The Katzentrögel used to be the most popular excursion destination in the Steinwald as a viewing platform. This changed with the construction of the Upper Palatinate Tower. Today, stairs and directions have been removed for environmental reasons.
