The steep hiking trail winds its way up to Maus Castle via several switchbacks. And from there, it climbs a good bit further. The effort is rewarded by absolutely breathtaking viewpoints.

We were there at the end of April, and the many different shades of green were somewhat reminiscent of Galicia. Please note that there are hardly any trash cans along the way, so please take your trash with you. There is a wine shop below the castle.

Rheinfels Castle is the largest surviving castle ruin on the Rhine. Although time has left its mark on the walls, you can still imagine what the magnificent fortress must have looked like. Part of the castle is now a museum where you can learn about the interesting history of the place. Great views from the Rabenack-Steig. A via ferrata set is recommended for children. Sure-footed people with a head for heights should have no difficulties here. When it rains and is wet, the climb and the steel steps become slippery.
