Originally a Celtic refuge, then the Romans arrived, and in the 12th century, a castle was built. It came into the possession of the Electorate of the Palatinate around 1300 and was then intended as a refuge for the ruler and his entourage from Heidelberg in case of emergency. The people of Dilsberger were granted town-like rights and, in return, were obliged to provide accommodations in case of emergency. With the dissolution of the Electorate of the Palatinate in 1803, the castle came into the possession of the state of Baden. In 1822, the castle was approved for demolition. The Gaisberg Tower in Heidelberg is a monument that stands at the transition from the small plateau of the high Gaisberg to the north-west slope. It was designed by the architect Fritz Seitz and built in 1876 by the Heidelberg Castle Association. Very nice to look at with a good view.

The effort to master the incline is fully rewarded on the Königstuhl and the viewing platform.

From Kornmarkt to Molkenkur there are modern carriages, from Molkenkur to Königstuhl you drive in a nostalgic carriage.

Great view from one of the most photographed mountains in Germany. I usually get my strength here at the Fuchsbau - the mountain railway kiosk - but the terrace of the new hotel also looks very chic!
