When the subtle lighting of the bridge structure reflects in the water of Ostdorfer Lake at dusk, its elegant curve comes into its own. In 2021, the new, impressive cycle bridge between the two peninsulas of Krösnitz and Dwang was officially inaugurated. The steel structure has a total length of 92 meters. The bridge completes the 1.2-kilometer-long new cycle path from southern Dwang to the Krösnitz peninsula. "The nature-oriented tourist cycle route runs on municipal land directly along the shores of Lake Ostorf and Lake Faulen. With unobstructed views of both lakes and the city skyline, it offers a strong attraction for cyclists and pedestrians. Nice beach, easily accessible by bike. Parking available. A food stand too :-)

The castle has been home to the parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1990, and many members of parliament have their offices within the vastness of the castle complex. The bike path around the castle lake, as in such metropolises, is top-notch. A bit out of the way, well, that's all.

It is also worth taking a look inside

The orangery is a two-winged building, the roof serves as a terrace, it is located in the axis of the main tower of the castle and is open to the sea. The inner courtyard is planted, to the southeast there is an arcade and the statue of Hercules taming a bull in the middle of the arcade. The palm garden and shell fountain, several accessible roof terraces and the sea grotto are part of the orangery.
