There used to be up to 150 sawmills along the streams in the Franconian Forest valleys. The sawmill at the blast furnace in the Steinach Valley ceased operation in 1980.

Finally, cyclists no longer have to ride on the road. From the town center, the bike path is somewhat hidden and barely marked. If you can't find this entrance, you can at least switch to the bike path at the end of the town. After about 1km, you then have a connection to the forest path (which leads almost exclusively downhill) to Marktschorgast, Wirsberg and the steam locomotive museum.

Directly to the church, partly through the forest. But when the weather is nice there are also pedestrians on the relatively narrow path.

Hikers are welcome here. There are delicious snacks, especially the smoked fish, but the cheese platter is also a dream. Children won't get bored either: dogs, cats and chickens run around freely. There is also a playground.
