There are usually many waterfowl on and around Lake Bachtel, especially swans. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a beaver.

The Bachtelsee surprises with a high number of waterfowl. Of course, swans are particularly noticeable. The crux of the matter is that an almost continuous row of hedges separates the lake from the path along the shore - through small gaps you can see the birds relatively close to the shore ... but do not take photos, the birds stop at the few places where you can get to the shore distant ... why only ..? 🤔🫣

The landscape at Bachtelsee is very beautiful and there are countless swans. Canada and Egyptian geese are often there too. There are beautiful viewpoints and every now and then a beaver can be observed, but its tracks can definitely be seen.

A wonderful section of the Wertach cycle path from Ettringen to Kaufbeuren. The water workers took many measures to give the aquatic creatures a better life. The reservoirs offer ecological niches for many living creatures, the fish ladders, which are often installed on the barrages, increase the mobility of the aquatic creatures and, with their noise, also increase the quality of life of those seeking relaxation. As a cyclist, you usually go in the shade on well-maintained gravel and forest paths, but if you want, you can also walk quickly along the river. There are many places to stop and simply enjoy nature. Thanks to the trail maintainers, a fantastic route! :-)
