10세기 후반에 건설된 제국 성채의 자리에, 1143년에 베틴 변경백의 소유가 된 광대한 성 단지가 자리 잡고 있습니다. 여러 로마네스크 양식의 건물 부분 외에도, 14세기 마지막 분기에 변경백의 성을 고딕 양식으로 개조한 것이 그 모습을 크게 결정짓습니다. 15세기 말과 16세기에는 추가적인 개조 및 신축 공사가 이루어졌으며, 당시 이 성은 베틴 가문의 부속 거주지, 미망인 거주지, 사냥용 성으로 사용되었습니다. 총 8번의 경우 로흘리츠는 작센 왕가의 일원을 위한 거주 성으로 사용되었습니다. 18세기부터 이 성은 관청(사법청, 지방 법원)으로 사용되었으며, 1852년부터는 감옥으로도 사용되어 다시 한번 대규모 개조 공사가 필요하게 되었습니다. 1892년에 설립된 박물관은 점차 확장되어 향후 거의 전체 성을 차지하게 될 것입니다. 출처: 위키백과
