At the moment, unfortunately, a sad wasteland like the Hochtaunus around Schmitten, Saalburg and Sandplacken. Large bare areas due to forest dieback. The only consolation: starting point for many trails in the direction of Schlangenbad, Fasanerie and Schläferskopf

No getting through today. Several access routes were impassable due to massive wild boulders. Craziness!

There are certainly nicer spots in the Rheingau, but it is the highest point and therefore always worth a visit!

At 619 meters above sea level, the Kalte Herberge is the highest mountain in the Rheingau. There used to be not much to see up here except for the summit sign, but now a view has opened up due to a wind break and subsequent clearing.
