We cycled along the Romantic Road cycle path for two weeks and admired not only beautiful landscapes but also Germany's most beautiful cities. A very nice bike path

We liked the section from Bad Mergentheim to Tauberbischofsheim the best. Most of the route was pure pleasure cycling. Even in Bad Mergentheim, cycling was pleasant despite the many construction sites in the town center.

The route from Tauberbischofsheim-Hochhausen towards Wertheim is closed for a long stretch due to construction work. A diversion is signposted, but it leads along a busy country road with a lot of truck traffic on weekdays and a popular route for "hurried" motorcyclists on weekends when the weather is good. It is unsuitable and even dangerous for leisurely cyclists and families with children. It is better to take the train from Tauberbischofsheim to Gamburg.

Great bike path through a very varied river landscape.

Wertheim is a coherent overall package. Strolling through the narrow streets and enjoying the medieval charm of the city is well worth it.

Wertheim Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1183 and was "extended from the upper castle to a spacious castle complex in several construction periods until it was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. The keep (around 1200) and the palace from the second third of the 13th century are still standing from the upper castle. Another residential building adjoins the Palas, in which the remains of an older complex have been preserved."[1] The city was a "planned foundation at the foot of the castle [...] The construction of the city fortifications must have started around 1200 be; it finally enclosed the castle and town with a ring of walls.

From the Tauber Bridge you have a very nice view of the castle and town hall.
