    The Main valley with its beautiful towns, quaint villages, steep vineyards and Häckerwirtschaften and old half-timbered houses is the border between Spessart and Odenwald. These beautiful woodlands offer hundreds of miles of trails and designated mountain bike trails. A holiday here in Main Franconia is highly recommended. The MainRadweg is great.

                The Main Cycle Route is a long-distance cycle route in Bavaria and Hesse that is around 600 kilometers long. It begins at the source of the White Main at the Ochsenkopf near Bischofsgrün and at the source of the Red Main in Creußen. After about 50 km each, the two branches of the source merge to form the Main near Kulmbach. The Main Cycle Route continues from there via Bamberg, Schweinfurt, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg, Hanau, Offenbach and Frankfurt to the Rhine in Mainz-Kastel, which is opposite the center of Mainz. The Main Cycle Route runs through the Franconian holiday areas of the Fichtel Mountains, Franconian Switzerland, Franconian Forest, Upper Main Valley-Coburg Land, Steigerwald, Haßberge, Franconian Wine Country, Lovely Tauber Valley, Spessart-Mainland and through the Hessian Lower Main region.

                    An absolutely beautiful cycle path. From the mouth towards Würzburg, the cycle path is OK to Frankfurt/Offenbach (it is asphalted, but partly slightly "graveled"), after that it gets better. From Aschaffenburg onwards, the paths are partly road-like. 😀

                    The scenery is a delight and even longer stretches are "bearable".
