Impressive Middle Ages at the Nördlinger Gate.

A moment of shock on August 9, 2023: Flames and a massive column of smoke emerge from one of the city's landmarks, the Nördlingen Gate Tower. The fire was presumably caused by a technical defect. The fire brigade quickly got the fire under control. However, rooms in the museum were destroyed.

The Nördlingen Gate, built around 1400, is adorned with a stepped gable from the 16th century with half-shells. Storks nest on the top of the gate tower.

Directly southwest of the Nördlinger Gate, an ancient, worn stone staircase leads up to the top of the wall and to the battlement directly above the gate, from which the entrance to the city was defended against enemies.

Nice park outside the city

The Wörnitztor in Dinkelsbühl is the oldest city gate and leads you straight to the Old Town Hall. Embarrassing interrogations used to be carried out and prisoners were held in the dominant Rothenburg gate tower. We continue with the Segringer Tor, which is particularly noticeable because of its onion dome. The city mill was built at the Nördlinger Gate, one of two mills whose construction was approved by Emperor Charles IV for the city of Dinkelsbühl in 1378. The 3rd Dimension Museum is located in the town mill, which is leaning directly against the town wall.
