The oldest parts of Kletkamp Estate are known to be the oldest manor house in Schleswig-Holstein. It has been the ancestral seat of the Counts of Brockdorff since 1612, but an earlier building dates back to the 13th century. Today, the estate offers several vacation apartments. The view of the Kletkamp Lakes is also wonderful.

The core of today's Prince's House was built around 1750 according to plans by court architect Johann Gottfried Rosenberg as a private garden palace for the Duke of Plön, Friedrich Carl. After the end of the Plön ducal period, the family of the royal Danish forestry official Andreas Gottlieb von Rosen moved into the house in 1782 and made it the social center of the town for almost 100 years. Around 1900, the Rococo palace, which had been specially expanded to include two neo-Baroque side wings, served as a prince's school for the six sons of Kaiser Wilhelm II. Over the course of the 20th century, the Prince's House belonged to various educational institutions, most recently as the girls' dormitory of the Plön Castle State Boarding School. Since 2000, the German Foundation for Monument Protection has owned the Prince's House and the palace gardens.
