Kellersee borders Malente to the east. It has a total area of approximately 50.6 hectares and a maximum depth of approximately 27 meters. A 14.6 km hiking trail surrounds the lake, including several highlights along the way. The Sehlendorfer Binnensee nature reserve is located in the municipality of Blekendorf Sehlendorf. The Sehlendorfer Binnensee is one of the few beach lakes on the Baltic coast that still has an open connection to the Baltic Sea, the Broeck. This increases the salt content in the lake when Baltic Sea water flows in and decreases when the water level is lower. A typical dry grassland with silver grass, sand sedge, stonecrop and dune pansies has developed on it.
