I can't recommend the tour around Lake Plön. About 66% of the route is on unpaved, potholed forest paths. It's more of a hiking trail than a bike path. The route is very, very poorly signposted.

The Great Plön Lake, also known as the Plöner See, is the largest lake in Schleswig-Holstein and the tenth largest lake in Germany, covering an area of 28 km². It stretches southwest of the town of Plön, which lies on its shores.

The Princes' Island offers many beautiful vantage points on the large Plöner See on easy-to-navigate paths.

The cycle tour to Plöner See went well. Thanks also to my two companions. Maybe repeat in 2023 or maybe to Glückstadt.

The Princes' Island was purchased by Emperor Wilhelm II in 1910 and is still owned by the House of Hohenzollern today. Forest, swampy terrain, a sandy beach and four large paddocks characterize the landscape. The sons of the last emperor once learned about farming here. The Great Plön Lake is a unique experience. That's for sure. Located in the middle of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, it makes the hearts of nature and animal lovers beat faster. In addition, it has been shining with top marks for water quality for years. Just like all the other bodies of water around it.
