Almost adventurous crossings over narrow wooden bridges. Very beautiful nature. Almost wilderness. Whether you like it or not, you have to cross the pasture with the robust cattle before continuing your journey. But the cattle completely ignore the cyclists. No danger!

There is a narrow, well-covered path there, so it's best to park your bike beforehand. Relatively new vantage point with a beautiful view of the Sehlendorf inland lake and the bird breeding grounds. There are many information boards here about the respective bird species.

The trails are not road bike-suitable. It is sandy, stony ground. And in wet conditions (before I had experienced severe thunderstorms) you are thundering through heavy, deep ground. Since you turn down already!

The river crossings deserve special attention. For a very nice built in the countryside, on the other hand but only for experienced without descending to master. Short steep ramps!

The NSG Sehlendorfer Binnensee is located between the seaside resorts of Sehlendorf and the Hohwacht Bay. It puts the Sehlendorf inland lake and its surroundings under protection. The nature reserve borders in the west and south on the landscape protection area "coastal and moraine landscape in the area of the communities Hohwacht and Blekendorf up to the border". The Sehlendorfer See is a beach lake that is connected to the Baltic Sea via the Broeck, a small watercourse. The Sehlendorfer Binnensee is the only beach lake on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast that is not regulated in its exchange with the Baltic Sea. [4] The northwestern Fulensee, the salt marshes and grassland areas near the banks as well as other agricultural areas are included in the nature reserve. To the Baltic Sea, parts of the beach wall, the dunes and the beach as well as a 100 meter wide, shallow water area close to the beach are included in the nature reserve. Salt marshes and grassland areas are grazed extensively with Scottish highland cattle for care. (Source: Wikipädia)

The Sehlendorfer Binnensee nature reserve is located in the municipality of Blekendorf. The most biologically interesting parts of this protected area can be clearly seen from a hiking trail and additional visitor guidance facilities, such as two platforms. The Sehlendorfer Binnensee is the only beach lake in the Hohwacht Bay that still has an open connection to the Baltic Sea. This is why the salt content in the lake increases when Baltic Sea water flows in and decreases when the water levels are lower. The changing salt levels are crucial for a very special flora and fauna in this protected area.
