This great observation tower offers a breathtaking panorama over the Black Forest, including the very striking Belchen, Basel, the Rhine plain, the Alsace and the Vosges and the Kaiserstuhl. Be careful when wet or slippery. There is an increased risk of slipping.

A good hiking tour, especially in warm weather, as it leads through the forests. The inn is currently (October 2023) a major construction site. Therefore: self-catering!

The ascent is worthwhile, the steps are a bit too small for the whole foot on the descent. ☺️

Observation tower is owned by the Black Forest Association - Ortsgruppe Müllheim Badenweiler e.V. (visitors of the tower are kindly asked for a small donation) for the upkeep of the tower - built in 1895

Getting up is not that easy - it has to be fighting "through the jungle"! So I was all the more astonished to even meet someone upstairs 😁 Once at the top you can clearly see the moat that runs around the hill. Various round "buildings" are to be found on the core. If you google you will find out that during the last war the Hitler youth observed planes from the airplanes. Since there are also older sketches with the climes, at least some of them seem to have existed before the war 😮
