It can be assumed that Gemen Castle was built as a motte in the 9th or 10th century. The first documentary mention was made in 1274. Today's palace complex is a successor to this first castle.
The main entrance is on Wulfener Straße. An imposing building that is privately owned. The entrance fees allow it to be maintained and kept in good condition.
The little loop is worth it. The asphalt is better and so is the landscape. The castle with its outbuildings as well as the farmsteads further along are beautiful to look at.
