The history of the castle goes back to the 12th century. After von Velen took possession of the castle, it was expanded into a Renaissance-style castle from 1643. After the Second World War the remains were restored. Regardless, it's just a great destination and definitely worth a little detour from the route. The castle park invites you to linger and stroll.
